Reset Microsoft Word Normal Template (Normal.dotm)

How to restore default Normal template in Microsoft Word on Windows. To reset the Normal Template, Normal.dotm, navigate to C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates and delete the Normal.dotm file.

1. Close Microsoft Word
2. Open C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates
3. Delete the file Normal.dotm
4. Open Microsoft Word.
5. Close Microsoft Word. A pop-up “Changes have been made to Normal.dotm, would you like to save them?”
   
6. Choose “Save”. Word will generate a new normal.dotm file with the default settings and styles.
